Design the old way
I’m a designer from the time when there was no internet at the Design company where I worked, today I can’t live without the internet. A computer with no internet in these days is like a dead end road, you can ride on it, but you can’t get out of it and go elsewhere.
When choosing an image or a typeface for our projects we had to browse catalogs printed in paper, really heavy books hard to put on the scanner and scan the right image for a comp. No searches… no find me similar, no tricks! Today choosing the right image is still not an easy job, but you can go to dozens of royalty free image sites and search the image you want with prices starting at just $1!
Scans from film are coming to an end when purchasing images and CD’s too, with broadband you can download whatever you need: Images, Fonts, software…
Also when it comes to meeting fellow Designers, internet became a huge help! Hundreds of great communities to join and browse others work and inspirations. Graphic tendencies travel at the speed of light from one continent to the other… designers life is now in the fast lane, all with the help of a single click!
